Urgent - Oppose AB 2296 by 6/24!
Oppose the California
Animal Enterprise Protection Act AB 2296!
Right now, California universities and industry groups are
pushing for the passage of the California Animal Enterprise
Protection Act AB 2296. This bill would silence California
citizens and taxpayers who care about animals by censoring our
freedom of speech.
Reasons why AB 2296 will set a dangerous precedent:

It provides animal enterprises special exception from fully
disclosing information about their laboratory and research
practices, despite California's public records laws.

It discriminates against the viewpoints of animal activists and
concerned citizens.

It will keep California citizens from knowing how some of their
tax dollars are spent.

It imposes on California citizens' rights to inquire that animal
experimenters are abiding by the Animal Welfare Act.
The bill was already passed unanimously by the Assembly. The
Senate hearing is scheduled for Tuesday, June 24th and the bill
will be voted on soon thereafter.
It is URGENT that your Senators and the Senate Judiciary
Committee Members hear from you before June 24th! This bill
must NOT pass the Senate!
