Puppy Mill Awareness Dog Walk 2005
|
 |
The first annual Puppy Mill Awareness Dog Walk was an enormous success! More than 100 people and their canine companions showed up in Lancaster, Pennsylvania to take a stand and march against puppy mill cruelty. Actor and Dogfellas Executive Director Paul Sorvino gave the keynote speech, discussing the abuse taking place in puppy mills and how citizens must take action against them.

Our mobile billboard turned heads all weekend as it hit the streets of Lancaster to educate residents and visitors. Many people honked their horns, gave us a “thumbs up” or approached us to express support. Some even tried to hand donations to the driver for the cause (he told them where to send donations)!
One of the highlights of the day was when activists walked past a mill operated by Daniel Esh, one of the largest and most notorious puppy millers in the state. Also noteworthy were the nine former mill dogs who were turned in to us, all of whom were taken in by rescue organizations that will find them adoptive homes.
Thanks to all who came to the event and supported the cause. To learn more about Lancaster puppy mills and what you can do to help stop the abuse,
